It's really something you're going to have to determine on your own. Or you might just be better off trading that in for a gaming oriented laptop. It could be as difficult as modifying your PC. This might be as easy as getting a notebook cooler for your PC to sit on while playing. You'll just have to take steps to address thermals if you want a quality experience while gaming. If I've found the right model, it looks like you have a Geforce 940m in there? It's not a great card for gaming, but it should play Wow on medium settings with no issues. You didn't pay a premium for better hardware. The premium you paid for your notebook is for the slim design and feature set that came with it. Which means that in heavy usage cases (gaming, productivity) where your CPU cores are pegged at 100%, heat has no place to go and causes the throttling issue. Thermal throttling is just what hardware does to protect itself. This isn't a sign of faulty or low quality hardware, everything in your machine is going to be 100% still. What this means is that over the duration of a play session, you may notice a steady decrease in performance as your hardware down clocks to prevent damage from heat buildup during heavy use. Your particular setup is going to suffer from thermal throttling due to the passive cooling design of ultra slim notebooks. If you can play Wow now, you should be have the same exact experience in Legion on the same settings as you do now (maybe a better experience, even).

I ran this random test online, but I frankly have no idea what the hell i'm doing: ĭoesn't appear that it can handle the graphics that well if it can only do minimum.Ĭan someone here enlighten me on this a bit more and possibly make a recommendation? In Legion, Wow is going to have more graphics settings and engine updates to leverage higher end graphics cards.
#Intel r hd graphics 520 replacement laptop update
My question is, especially given the graphics update in the game, can my laptop even it play it well at all? Speant quite a bit on a laptop for work-related things, but also wanted one that was at least capable of playing WoW.
